The Purna River enters from Kurel village in Navsari Taluka. Here, The Purna river’s length is 36 km. Navsari district is south Gujarat's ancient and historical city. It is situated at around 150 feet above the sea level therefore in summers also the weather is pleasant here. Navsari is an important station on the broad gauge railway line between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Because of Ahmedabad - Mumbai National Highway No.8, Navsari is connected to all big cities of Gujarat through Gujarat State Transportation Corporation’s bus service.

Navsari was the main city of old Vadodara State before freedom. From 1st May 1949 Navsari was included in Surat district and in June,1964, at the time of reformation of Surat district it was included in Valsad district. The present Navsari District has come into existence since 2nd October 1997.According to old writings it can be seen that Navsari was famous from the 7th century. During the time of 671 A.D., it was known as Navsarika and this region was ruled by Laat Branch of Chalukya dynasty. It seems that king Avnijanashray Pulkeshi of this dynasty was ruling at that time. King Pulkeshi had defeated and driven out the Arabian Army which had attacked Navasarika. This Chalukyan rule seems to have continued till 740 A. D. During this time, weak Koli and Rajput population was scattered over the hill of Navsari.

It seems that at that time Shiladitya’s Guru Naagvardhana had stayed in the present Naag Talavdi area. Therefore this area became famous as Naag Manda” and gradually with passage of time this district’s present name “Navsari” came. In 825 A. D. the founder of Sant Panth, the great Saiyed Nuruddin alias Saiyed Sadat had stayed in Navsari’s Lunsikui area. As his miracles were spread in the surrounding villages, he became famous as Auliya or the great man. As per the past writings, due to this, Navsari’s fame had increased. As a sign of Auliyas fame in Lincikui area, today also Rojas, mosques, Hauj and other significant buildings can be seen in this area.
